Obituary

Jenette M. (Riehl) Weber, 88, of Traverse City passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at Munson Medical Center. Jenette was a native of Traverse City growing up on Eighth Street. She was born on November 3, 1932 to the late Henry and Helen (Bergstrom) Riehl. At the age of 17, she married Joseph LaVerne Weber on February 4, 1950. He preceded her in death on February 7, 1989. In 1955 they purchased their farm in Hannah, this is where they raised their family.

Jenette was a wonderful homemaker, she loved having people in her home. There was always a pot of coffee going, and it was not uncommon for someone to pop in for a visit and a cup of coffee. She was a sassy lady with a great sense of humor, when playing cards with her family and friends everyone wanted to be on her team. Jenette was a beautiful seamstress, she loved to crochet, knit, and she worked for a while in the fabric department at Tempo.

Her heart and home were always open, Jenette was a foster Mom to over 20 children throughout the years, many of them teenage boys who needed a loving home. At Christmas time Jenette would play secret Santa, she would find a family in need and secretly give them gifts or money. She said, she never had to look very hard to find someone in need. It may be a single mom she had visited with at a restaurant, a nurse, store clerk or even one of her kid's co-workers. Jenette was very adamant that no one was to know she did this, especially the family who received the gift. Many of her family members weren't aware she did this for years. Jenette would say; "when I help others it always comes back to me three-fold." Above all of the wonderful things Jenette did, nothing brought her more enjoyment then spending time with her beloved family.

Jenette is survived by her loving children; Andy (Kathy) Weber, Jim (Bev) Weber, Jeff Weber, Jodi (Jeff) Harrand, Dick (Karleen) Kelley and Bob (Sherri) Kelley. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Jarin (Mike) Weber-Hall, Joe (Sarah) Weber, Tara (Dave) Weber-Strnad, Keri (Chris) Weber-Davies, J. Corey (Tori) Weber, Brandon (Courtney) Burley, Julia Harrand, Jordan Harrand, Tim (LouAnna) Kelley, Heather (Steve) Stanek, and Bob (Lotta) Kelley as well as 17 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild on the way.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Weber, a grandson, Ryan Kelley, a sister, Rachel Harrand and an infant brother, Leonard Riehl.
