We bid farewell to Jennifer Kay Heinfling, (nee. Pitcher), 67, who departed from this world on Sunday, August 24, 2025.
Jennifer was born in Huntington, Indiana on July 24, 1958 to the late William and Nellie (Wood) Pitcher. She married the late Jeff Heinfling on August 25, 1991 in Traverse City.
She was a graduate of St Francis High School in Traverse City and received culinary certification from Northwestern Michigan College. She was an active member of the Congregation Beth El (now Beth Shalom) in Traverse City, MI and Congregation Beth Tephilah Moses in Mount Clemens, Michigan.
Jennifer came to Beth El as a high school student while taking a comparative religion class. Her interest in Judaism caused her to study and eventually convert. She was active in helping with the religious school and organized the congregation library. When she returned to Traverse City after the death of her husband she became active as a board member until she moved to French Manor.
She enjoyed baking and sharing bread, crocheting and watching neighborhood birds with a remarkable ability to mimic their calls. She participated in and received recognition from Toastmasters International.
Jennifer is survived by her sisters Molly Place, Carol Deal, Brenda Lau, and her sisters-in-law, Shelly Tenen, and Deborah Franz.
Jennifer was proceeded in death by her husband Jeff, her parents Nell and Bill Pitcher, her sister Linda Pitcher and her beloved dog BJ.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the dedicated staff at French Manor Terra in Traverse City for the compassionate care during Jennifer's illness. Their dedication to her well-being over the past four years will always be remembered.
To Commemorate her life and the memories we cherish, a graveside service will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, August 26 at the Oakwood Cemetery Jewish section conducted by Rabbi Arnie Sleutelberg. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of your choice.
