Jeremy Keith Hooper, 63, of Traverse City passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Munson Medical Center surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Jeremy was born December 10, 1953 to the late Walter and Beth (Duff) Hooper in Traverse City. He married Kristina Jeanette LeRoy on September 1, 2012 also in Traverse City.
Jeremy honorably served our Country in the United States Coast Guard from 1972- 1976. He was stationed in Chicago and was a Radioman. He made many lifelong, special friendships while he was in the Coast Guard.
His love and talent for music was instilled by his mother, Beth. He played the organ, the coronet, and the flugelhorn beautifully for the Coast Guard Marching Band.
After his return from the service, Jeremy started working in the cable industry. He worked in California for several years before taking a management position at Comcast in Little Rock, AR. For a short time he even lived on his boat while he was in California. After his work with the cable companies, he moved home to be close to family. Jeremy's new line of work was growing grapes with his brother Jay and wife Marie for the Winery at BlackStar Farms in Northern Michigan.
Jeremy had numerous hobbies, and was notably a great handyman that could fix anything. He was an extremely talented woodworker and engineer; he even developed his own 3D printers before they were mainstream. Jeremy also loved animals, and had an affinity for all creatures. He had many pets throughout his lifetime including cats, dogs, ferrets, and even a monkey. As much as he loved them, they loved him even more.
Jeremy was a prankster and you could tell he was always up to something when he had the twinkle in his eye. Fondly, he will be remembered as the life of the party with a great soul taken too young.
Surviving Jeremy is his loving wife Kristina, step-son Larry Boyd, siblings, Jay (Marie) Hooper, Candy (Tom) Bensley, Kevin (Sue) Hooper and Sheree (Wayne) Clewis; nieces and nephews, Heather (Scott) Jaworski, Bailey (Brenden) Booth, Kelsey Bensley, and Nikki and Joel Clewis; great-nieces and nephews, Isabelle, Amelia, Preston, Oliver, Elijah, Walter and Eloise Jaworski; sisters-in-law Kathy Knowles, Kim (Bobby) Hayter, Connie LeRoy, beloved dogs Sky, Bonnie and Dozer, and many other loving friends.
Jeremy was preceded in death by his parents, previous wife Sue Hooper, and brother-in-law Kent LeRoy.
