Obituary

Jerry Buck, age 82, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully at his home on February 13, 2025. Jerry was born on December 8, 1942, in Bushnell Township, Montcalm County, Michigan, one of twelve children of the late Cecil and Agnes (Phillips) Buck.

Jerry's early years of education began in a rural one-room schoolhouse. He attended Carson City High School and after graduation in 1961, he enlisted in the Air Force proudly serving our country, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. While stationed at Selfridge Air Force Base in Michigan, he met Marlene Ann Szymanski. On August 24, 1968, Jerry and Marlene were united in marriage. Upon his Honorable Discharge from the Air Force in 1965, he began his employment with UPS in Grand Rapids as a Feeder Driver doing long hauls across the country, and in 1976 was transferred to UPS in Traverse City. Jerry and Marlene joined and became members of Trinity Lutheran Church.

During their wonderful 51 years of marriage, Jerry and Marlene enjoyed spending time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They also loved taking camping trips and traveling in their RV with family and close friends. Jerry also enjoyed his motorcycle, NASCAR racing, and watching Western movies.

Jerry is survived and missed dearly by his son Dennis, grandchildren Kaytee, Karree, David, Kristee, Anthony and Jennifer; 9 great-grandchildren; 6 siblings Gerald, Sarah Ann, Geraldine, Joyce, Diane, and David.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Eugenia, one great-grandchild; and also siblings Cecil, Jordan, Eugene, Judy, and Jenny.
