Traverse City - Jo B. Fillmore, 84, of Kingsley, MI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Grand Traverse Pavilions.

Jo Bentley was born on October 1, 1928 to the late John and Florence (Sullivan) Bentley in Buffalo, NY. Jo became a stewardess for Capital Air Lines in 1952 where she met Robert L. Fillmore who was an Operations Agent at Cherry Capitol Airport. They married on May 17, 1955, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Buffalo, NY. They settled in Midland, MI to raise a family until returning to Traverse City to retire at the Fillmore family cottage on Long Lake. Robert predeceased her on August 20, 1991.

Jo worked for Michigan National Bank/First of America as a Senior Teller in the drive through from 1982 until retirement in 1995. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, watching Jeopardy & Wheel of Fortune, and was a big fan of the Detroit Tigers.

Jo is survived by three sons and three daughters; Robert L., Jr. (Clarice Smith), Jeffrey A., Pamela A., Barbara J., John B. (Liza), and Diane P. (Rick) Sharnowski; grandchildren: Chad, Krista, Angela (Emanuel) and Jacob; great-grandchildren: Shayla, Deshawn and Cali. They were her pride and joy. Also surviving are a sister, Joyce Hirsch, nieces, nephews and many other loving family and friends.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers and four sisters: John K. Bentley, James F. Bentley, June Fogarty, Jerri Kraus, Petey McMahon and Jeanne Bentley.

Visitation for friends and family will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, also at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2013 at St. Francis Catholic Church. Rev Fr. Polycharp Mblarawa will officiate. It was Jo's wish that those attending her funeral wear bright colors. In accordance with Jo's wishes, cremation has taken place

Memorial contributions may be directed to Mass Intentions, St. Francis Catholic Church, Grand Traverse County Commission on Aging or Grand Traverse Area Parkinson's Support Group.
