TRAVERSE CITY — Joan P. Aslin, 79, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 24, 2011. She was dearly loved by her family, friends and Cherry Hill Haven staff.Joan was born on June 23, 1931. She was the daughter of Eldon and Eleanor Fuller, who preceded her in death. Joan spent her childhood and many of her adult years in Clio. She married David L. Aslin on Dec. 22, 1952, in Angola, Ind. Joan and David spent 21 years in Traverse City close to many of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Joan was a member of Retired School Personnel, NEA, MEA and St. Michael's Lutheran Church. She was an Eastern Michigan University graduate and was an elementary school teacher for 25 years. Joan enjoyed traveling and writing letters and cards to her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother and friend. Joan is survived by her husband, David; and her children, Lynda (Patrick) Frusti, of Traverse City, Bonnie Tardivi, of Henderson, Nev., Janice Aslin, of Traverse City, Richard Aslin, of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Michael Aslin, of Traverse City. Joan had nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a niece; two nephews; and sister-in-law, Ilena Aslin. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, June 3, at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 912 S. Garfield Ave., Traverse City, followed by a memorial service to celebrate Joan's life at 11 a.m. A private family committal service will be held at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens Cemetery.Joan's family extends special thanks to Evon Ryan, Cherry Hill Haven staff and Hospice of Michigan for all your compassionate care to our mother and to us.Rather than flowers, the family would like Joan remembered through memorial contributions to the Aslin Education Fund for Trinity Lutheran School (St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 912 S.
