Joan Verlee Haley of Traverse City, Michigan, formerly of the Lansing area, age 90, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2023. She was born in Lansing to Clarence and Faye (Dudley) Parr on April 7, 1932.
Joan moved to Traverse City in 1973, and worked for Grand Traverse County Community Mental Health until her retirement. She loved to bowl, and was pretty good at it too—Joan was even inducted into the Lansing Bowling Hall of Fame. She was also an avid golfer, playing well into her 70's. She loved playing with family and was asked to sub on the men's leagues which was a special memory for her.
Joan was a devoted wife and loving mother, proud grandmother and great grandmother, dear sister and friend. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.
Joan is survived by her children Mike (Linda Ramey) Haley, Maureen (Tim) Gies, and Mark (Anne) Haley; grandchildren, Ashleigh (Erik) Whittaker, Tim (Amelia Thompson) Gies, Jenny (Garrett) Thompson, Colleen (Matt) Revard, and Cory Moore; great grandchildren Jasper, Leo and Leah; other beloved members of the family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Michael; sister Carol (Walter) Beckner; and great-granddaughter Olivia Thompson.
She will be laid to rest with her beloved Michael in DeepDale Memorial Gardens, Lansing, MI. Her family will celebrate privately.
