Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY — Joan Elaine Quick, 83, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Munson Medical Center. Joan was born Oct. 27, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Hildegard (Roggelein) McGovern, of Monroe.On Jan. 31, 1947, at Christ Lutheran Church in Monroe, Joan entered into marriage with Lewis H. Quick Jr., who preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 1965.After moving to Traverse City Joan was employed at R.L. Polk, Milliken's Department Store and volunteered at the Hope Chest.Music was an integral part of Joan's life, whether she was directing Jr. Choir, playing the piano or singing with her family. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, cross-stitching and drawing. But, she was happiest spending time with her loved ones sharing stories, laughing and playing games. Joan loved her family and visiting with friends. She touched many lives and was loved by people of all ages. Her sense of humor, kind soul and loving heart will be remembered by all who knew her.Joan is survived by her loving family; daughters, Barbara (Charles) Hausmann, of Haslett, Polly (Tom) Dilloway, of Traverse City, and Madelynn (Timothy) Loucks, of Painesville, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Martha (Rob) Davis, Gretchen (Michael) Potter, Joshua Hausmann, Lindsay (Philip) Sheridan, Brynn (Philip) Guster, Shane Dilloway and Katherine (Bart) Ward; six great-grandchildren, Noah, Reece and Mackenzie Davis, Madeline and Abigail Potter, and Natalie Sheridan. She is also survived by her brother, Richard McGovern, of Monroe, and his family.Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 18, from 1 to 4 p.m., with a time of sharing at 3 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
