Joanne Marie Zimmerman

JoAnne M. Zimmerman, 84 of Traverse City passed away December 30, 2012 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.

JoAnne was born on November 10, 1928 in Traverse City to Carl Hugo and Alice (Vezina) Nelson.

On February 19, 1946 JoAnne married Jack William Zimmerman in Indiana.

JoAnne lived in the area her entire life. She was a business woman and owner of Zimmco Management,(Zimmerman Construction). JoAnne was a member of the First Congregational Church, The Zonta Club of Traverse City, The Friendly Garden Club, The Junior Winery Club, and was on the NMC Foundation Board. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, designing homes, traveling, needlepoint, collecting silver and painting.

JoAnne is survived by her children David William Zimmerman of Clearwater, FL, Lindy Lou Zimmerman Graff of Holland, J.C. (Kathe) Zimmerman of Traverse City and Shawna Sue Zimmeman of Traverse City, grandchildren Robert (Sheryl) Zimmerman, Shannon (Charles) Wierda, Rex III (Jen) Graff, Jacob Graff, Allison (Brian) Prisk, Ryan (Kat) Zimmerman, step grandchildrend Chad Copeland, Craig Copeland, great grandchildren Taylor, Jackson, Lindy, Lucy, Ellen, Baker, and Emily, step great grandchildren Cody, Zach, and Cheyanne, sister Mary Jean Rettmann of Traverse City and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

JoAnne was preceded in death by her husband Jack William in 1986 and parents.

The funeral celebrating JoAnne's life will take place on Thursday, January 3, 2012 at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home at 2 pm with visitation beginning at 12 noon.

Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery where JoAnne will be laid to rest next to her husband.

Memorial contributions in memory of JoAnne may be directed to the Dennos Museum at Northwestern Michigan College or to Hospice of Michigan.
