Obituary

John Carl "Jack" Kraus, 75 of Traverse City, passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at Munson Medical Center.

Jack was born on July 15, 1938 in Manistee to the late John and Mildred (Minster) Kraus. He married the late Edna Tucker in 1963. Together they raised two wonderful daughters.

Jack attended Michigan State University. After his schooling he became a dedicated painter. He owned JW Kraus Painting and later in life he worked for National Coatings. In his spare time he enjoyed reading, fishing and crossword puzzles. Family was also important to Jack. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He had a large extended family through AA and along with achieving 27 years of sobriety, he was one of the founders of the East Side AA group.

Surviving Jack are his daughters, Susan (Kirk) Davis of Lake Ann, Johanna (Robert) Novak of Cedar, grandchildren, Ryan (Fiancée Amelia Lautner) Davis, Kayla (fiancé Zachary Jajo) Davis, Austin Novak and Aaron Novak.

Visitation for Jack will take place on Friday, July 18, 2014 from 4-7pm at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens at a later time. Memorial contributions may be directed to the East Side AA.
