In loving memory of John Warren Cunningham, who passed away on October 23, 2023, at the age of 61, at Munson Medical Center.
John was born on May 19, 1962, in Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. He was a proud graduate of Traverse City Central High School, class of 1981, where he earned an outstanding industrial art student award, a testament to his creative spirit and dedication. Throughout his life, John wore many hats – from being a talented chef who found joy in cooking for others to becoming a skilled machinist, and later, contributing his expertise to the aircraft industry.
In 1998, he met the love of his life, Florence "Flo" Mary Sterling-Ludka, and they cherished 25 years of friendship, companionship, and adventures together. John and Flo shared a passion for travel, exploring the beauty of places like the Black Hills of South Dakota, Moab in Utah, Yellowstone National Park, Glacier National Park, Zion National Park, and all over Colorado. They embraced outdoor adventures, from RVing and competitive shooting to snowmobiling and off-roading in his beloved Jeep.
John was a true jack of all trades, finding joy in woodworking, doing many types of home projects, riding his Harley, and spending time with his cherished pups, Jeep, and Daisy.
He will be deeply missed by his girlfriend, Flo. Survived by his daughter Asharra (Jeremy) Brady, granddaughter Amelia Brady, daughter Tasha (Zach) Hand, stepdad Larry Norton, siblings William (Darlene) Cunningham and Mark (Sharon) Norton, and a wide circle of family and friends.
Private family services will be held at a later time to celebrate a life well-lived, filled with adventure, and boundless creativity. John's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
