John Seth King, 92, of Traverse City and Curtis died October 18, 2020 at Munson Medical Center.

John was born on October 21, 1927 in Meritt on the family farm to the late Floyd Horace and Neva (Goodwin) King.

John graduated from Central Lake High School in 1945. The following day he went down to Chicago where he enlisted in the United States Navy. He then served in San Francisco and Japan. He was honorably discharged in July of 1954.

On October 26, 1946 John married Virginia "Ginny" Kathryn Frye in Eastport. Together they celebrated 54 years together before she passed in 2000.

When John returned home from the service he worked with his family at the lumber yard in Central Lake and then started his 40 plus year career selling Anderson Windows. After retirment he sold real estate in the UP.

John was a die-hard Green Bay Packer Backer. He also cheered on the Tigers and the St. Francis Gladiators.

John was a lifetime member of the VFW, the Elks and the Eagles. In his later years he spent April through December in Curtis where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He will be greatly missed by his family and buddies.

John is survived by his sons Richard "Dick" (Sue) King, James "Jim" (Cheryl) King; nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and sister Jane (Don) Holland.

The funeral celebrating John's life will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:30 pm. A luncheon will follow at the VFW.
