We are sad to announce the passing of John Henry Long. He passed away on Monday, October 31 of a heart attack at the age of 61 doing what he loved most - being in the woods hunting.
John was a cancer survivor, having battled and won 12 years ago. John recently celebrated his 40th wedding anniversary with his wife, Barbara, by taking a trip to Montana and Banff Canada. John is also survived by his daughters Kristen and Kaitlin, whom he loved dearly and was incredibly proud of. He was a doting grandfather to twins Audrey and Alexander and honored father-in-law to Andrew and David.
John will be remembered for his 30-year military service, his passion for honest and hard work, and his genuine love and care for others. We love you and miss you already.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 12 at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home (305 Sixth St, Traverse City, MI 49684) with visitation from 2pm and a memorial service from 3pm to honor and remember his incredible life.
The service will be live streamed for those who are unable to attend at rjfh.tv.
