Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY - Dr. John "Jack" Mann Williams D.O. 89, of Traverse City, passed away on October 4, 2016. John was born in Cumberland, MD., on March 14, 1927 he was the son of the late William F. and Virginia E. (Mann) Williams. He was the youngest of four siblings.

He joined the Army Air Corps and spent 2 ½ years in the service during World War II stationed in the Philippines.

John graduated from Western Maryland College and entered the U.S. Air Force pilot training during the Korean War, stationed in Ashiya, Japan. After serving his commission he attended school and received his doctorates from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and did his internship and residency at Saginaw Osteopathic Hospital, and held his professional practice at Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital in the Anesthesiology Department.

John is survived by his two sons, John Williams and Christopher Williams; step-daughters, Deborah Calley, and Michelle Sheckler ; step-son, Steve Detwiler; and 7 loving grandchildren; and 1 great grand-child. Brother in-laws, Robert Arfstrom and Leonard Tafelsky and many nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by all his siblings, and first wife Shirley (Fuller) Williams (1983) and wife Donna (Arfstrom) Williams (2015).
