John R. Mclain

John R. McLain, 87, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Tendercare Traverse City. John was born on August 3, 1926 in Mancelona to the late Pearl and Elena (Baker) McLain. He was married to Bessie "Peggy" Richards on October 3, 1948 in Cadillac. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2010. John was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Prior to his retirement, John had been employed as the service manager of the Traverse City Buick Dealership. He loved being outdoors hunting and fishing with his family and friends.

John is survived by two sons and a daughter; Robert McLain of Traverse City, Beverly (Mike) Ferguson of Lake Ann and Doug (Kris) McLain of North Creek, NY. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a brother and three sisters.

Friends are welcome to visit with John's family on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

A funeral service honoring John will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The Rev. Jose H. Lopez will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
