John Harold Moll, 95, of Traverse City, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Samaritas Senior Living in Williamsburg.
John was born on Thursday, May 3, 1923 to the late Paul and Amelia (Dauer) Moll in Detroit,. He graduated from Western High School in Detroit and then served our country as a member of the United States Army during WW II and during the Korean War. He married the former Ruth A. Corwin on March 18, 1950 in Detroit.
During his working career, John was employed by Morley Brothers Wholesale Company in Detroit in their sales and clerical department. He was very active in every Lutheran church he attended during his lifetime and served in every office within the Lutheran Church. After moving to Lewiston in 1995 with his wife Ruth, they were very active members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Lewiston. After moving to Traverse City, John and Ruth were active members of St. Michael's Lutheran Church. He was a very committed Christian and always was willing to help someone out. In his spare time, John was an avid golfer, playing the sport whenever he could and was on staff at the Garland Resort in Lewiston as a starter until the summer of 2012. He also enjoyed bowling. John was a devoted Tigers fan, rarely missing a televised game.
John is survived by his son Kevin and his wife Dianne Moll of Traverse City; his grandchildren, Phillip (Alicyn) Moll of Fayetteville, N. C., Matthew Moll of Copper Harbor and Haley Moll of Traverse City. He is also survived by his sisters Pat (Al) Anderson of Florida and Amelia Boynton of Redford. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, daughter, Christine, his parents and siblings, Richard, Paul, Carl, Robert, James, Albert, Ruth and Helen.
A service celebrating John's life will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visitation starting at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 912 Garfield Ave., Traverse City, Michigan 49686.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Michael's Lutheran Church.
