Obituary

Traverse City - John J. Price, 64, of Traverse City and formerly of Waterford, passed away Monday, December 24, 2012 at Munson Hospice House with his wife by his side.

John was born on July 7, 1948 to the late William and Mary (Wood) Price in Marion, IN. John was drafted into service with the United States Army during Vietnam. John proudly served his country as a medic overseas.

In 1986 John entered into marriage with the former Glynnis Sloan at her parents' home in White Lake Township.

After graduating from college in Massachusetts, John became one of the EMT's in Detroit before entering the police academy. John began his career in police work in Detroit before moving to Bloomfield Township and retired from there after many years of service.

John enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid hunter, played golf in a league at Elmbrook and loved every opportunity to be on the water. He could often be found fishing or having fun with friends on the pontoon. He was one to do things his way, even to the end, and his simple caring nature will be deeply missed by those who knew him.

John is survived by his wife, Glynnis Price of Traverse City; sister, Janet Price and his two neices, Katie and Jackie; in-laws, Rinehart and Gerda Sloan, sister-in-law, Romy (Howard) Anderson , brother-in-law, Lars and Robin Sloan, a niece and nephew, Cullen and Carys as well as many other loving family members and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

Military Honors followed by a luncheion will be held at the Fife Lake American Legion on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 1:00 P.M.
