John Wesley Trago, Sr passed away on June 26, 2017.
He was born June 22, 1937 in Lancaster PA, to Ivan G and Mildred (Huber) Trago. He grew up in
the Lancaster area, and graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School. He attended Villanova
University for one year. He then enlisted in the Air Force, enjoyed a 23 year career, and retired
as a Vietnam vet and Master Sergeant, in Empire, MI. While in the military, he was stationed on Look Out Mountain in Tennessee, where he met and married the love of his life Virginia Lee
Penley. They enjoyed a long marriage of 58 years. After retiring, John and Virginia had a
wonderful life in Empire, where they were active in the church and with the community. They
enjoyed hosting weekly euchre parties at their house until he became to ill to continue.
John and Virginia always wanted a large family. Their love resulted in 6 children. John Sr. is
preceded in death by his oldest son John Jr (Shelia Porter), who passed away on May 17, 2017.
He is survived by his wife Virginia; daughter Sherry (Devon) Harris, Jerry (Kristy Holiday), Alisa (Jerryl) Nai, Carolyn (Louis) Coomans, and Sharon (Mark) Hawkins. His also survived by his baby sister Cynthia Trago, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be greatly missed by
his family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 12 p.m. at St. Phillips Catholic Church in Empire, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Father Zeljko Guberovic will officiate services.
