TRAVERSE CITY — John Yoder, 57, of Traverse City, died peacefully on Monday December 31st at his home . John was born October 28, 1955 to Delphine and Richard Yoder.
John spent years in institutions then in foster care homes in northern Michigan, including the Manley AFC , Tower Hill AFC and most recently, Lincoln AFC in Cedar.
John attended Grand Traverse industries for many years and always kept a close watch on those around him. He is also known for some exquisite chair rearranging in his time. John was a source of joy for those who cared for him throughout the years and will be greatly missed.
John was preceded in death by his mother and father, and is survived by his siblings and by his AFC family.
A deep thank you is extended to those dedicated GTI staff, AFC caregivers and Community Mental Health staff who have cared for John over the years. Thank you also to the gentle helpers at Munson Hospice for the compassion shown to John and his caregivers at the end of his life.
Please join us for a celebration of John's life on Wednesday, January 9th, at The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with Pastor Justin Grimm officiating. Visitation will begin at 1pm, with the memorial service at 2pm and a luncheon afterwards.
