TRAVERSE CITY — Jonathan "Jack" Arnold Cronk, 74, of Traverse City and formerly of the Detroit area, passed away Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at his home with family by his side.
Jonathan was born on Aug. 31, 1936, to the late John and Lillian (Brown) Cronk in Dearborn.
Jack served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army. Jack completed school earning a bachelor's degree and made his living with the Department of Corrections as a parole officer, retiring in 1995. He was a proud member of American Military League and enjoyed, politics, euchre, crossword puzzles, and was an avid Detroit sports fan.
Jack is survived by his sons, Jeff Cronk and Jon Cronk, both of Traverse City; his daughter, Rachel Cronk, of Livonia; one grandchild, Noah Jonathan; a brother, Michael Cronk of Westland; his ex-wife, Patricia Cronk, of Traverse City; and many other loving family members and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gary Cronk.
Military memorial services will take place 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi. A memorial gathering will be held locally at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at the American Military League in Traverse City.
Memorial contributions may be directed to a local chapter of the American Military League.
