Joseph R. Dakoske

Joseph R Dakoske, 76, of Traverse City, died Thursday morning, October 11, 2012 at home, in peace and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Joe was born on March 15, 1936 in Detroit, the son of Joseph A. and Ellen (McCorry) Dakoske. Joe was raised in Detroit and married his wife Marie in 1961 at St. David's Parrish in Detroit. They had two children, Joe and Paul, who are both married, to Anne and Sara, respectively and they have 8 grandchildren, April, Kayla, Hannah, Emily, Joey, Emma, Paul Jr. and Ellyn. Joe and Marie just celebrated their 51st anniversary on Sept. 30.

The family moved to Traverse City in 1969 when Joe started his accounting practice, Dakoske and Dakoske Accountants. He loved his wife and family deeply, as well as the Lord Jesus.

In addition to his immediate family, Joe is survived by five siblings, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Joe will be greatly missed.

Family and friends may call at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Old Mission Peninsula on Monday, Oct. 15 from 6 until 8 p.m. The Vigil service will take place at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 11 a.m. at the church with the Funeral Mass being celebrated at 12 noon with Msgr. Edwin Thome presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery following cremation.

For a more lasting memorial, the family suggests that contributions in Joe's name be directed to Grand Traverse Area Right to Life or to the Father Fred Foundation.
