Joseph J. Hines passed away on May 12, 2026. Beloved husband of the late Rose Betty (nee Furner) and the late Margaret (nee Fox). Loving father of Eric (Diane) and devoted stepfather of Cindy, Robert, Joseph, and Elizabeth. Cherished Pop-pop to Katrinia, Timmy, Joe, Frank, Brian, Bradley, Michael, Nicole, Jennifer, Tim, and Chris, and Great Pop to many loving great-grandchildren. Joe is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, Joe was proud of his roots and the life he built in the city he called home. By trade, he was a skilled Millwright who worked for many years at the Philco and United Container.

Joe was an avid newspaper reader and especially enjoyed sitting with his brother discussing current events and stories they had read, particularly the obituaries. In his younger years, Joe loved working with horses and took great pride in breaking and bridling them. He loved being helpful and as his siblings got older, he found time for them practically every day. He also found peace and happiness near the water, especially along the Delaware River near Linden Avenue by the Fish Hatchery, one of his favorite places to spend time.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Burns Funeral Home (9708 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19114) from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by his Funeral Service. Interment will take place at Magnolia Cemetery.
