April 30, 1952 — September 13, 2023

Joseph John Kutten, age 71, a resident of Traverse City, passed away on September 13, 2023, at Munson Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on April 30, 1952, in Roscommon, Michigan, to the late Robert Joseph and Alberta Jean Chrysler Kutten. He married Christie Bonnelle on December 22, 1975 and eventually he married Linda Redli on September 15, 1992.
Joe was a true jack of all trades, a man of many talents and passions. He was an exceptional artist, finding joy in the delicate strokes of wood burning and pencils. His artwork graced numerous places throughout Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, including the bar atop the hayloft, table tops at La Señorita, and the Fireplace Inn. Joe relished showcasing his work at craft fairs and art fairs all over the area, where his creativity shone brightly. He loved to travel around the beautiful State of Michigan and especially enjoyed his time in the Upper Peninsula.
A gifted musician, Joe found happiness in performing alongside others, sharing his love for music with those around him. However, his greatest source of joy in life was his family. He held a special place in his heart for his children, grandchildren, and extended family.
Joe is survived by his children, Lydia (Ben Fish) Kutten and Aaron (Jessica Mack) Kutten, and his daughter, Emily (Chris) Taylor. He leaves behind many cherished grandchildren, as well as his previous wives, Christie Bonnelle and Linda Redli. Joe will be dearly missed by numerous friends, and extended family members. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Kutten, and his sister, Jean Zeller.
He s preceded in death by his parents and his beloved dogs, Drew and Jack.
A private family gathering to celebrate Joe's life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his honor may be directed to the Grand Traverse Humane Society, a place where Joe's love for animals and his beloved dog, Drew, likely found their beginnings.
Joe's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His creativity, music, and most importantly, his deep love for family and friends, will forever be remembered. Kindly share thoughts and memories with his family at www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com .
