Joseph Thomas McFarlane, 74, of Interlochen passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Munson Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Joe was born on August 25, 1948 in Bay City, MI to the late Jerome Warren and Agnes (Lynch) McFarlane. He married Nancy Lorraine Derocher on December 27, 1968. Together they lovingly raised two wonderful children Joe Jr. and Lisa.

Honorably, Joe served our Country in the United States Navy. He is a Combat Veteran serving with bravery in the Vietnam War from 1966 thru 1970. After his return from service he worked in the Civil Engineering field and worked on many underground constructions projects. He was most proud to be the project manager for the Clinch Park Marina.

Joe loved to be fishing on the lakes with Nancy or hunting in the woods. Joe was a member of the American Legion as well as a member of the Benzie Sportsman's Club.

Surviving Joe is wife Nancy of 54 wonderful years, son Joe Jr. (Gwen) McFarlane of Kansas, daughter Lisa (David) Stewart of Traverse City, grandchildren Justin (Maria) McFarlane, Ryan (Haley) Stewart, Kaylee (fiancée Paul Rusinowski) Stewart, great grandchildren Annabelle and Rylee, his siblings, James (Janice) McFarlane, Jane Dittenber, Jill Wilkins, Joy McFarlane and many other loving family members and friends.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, brothers John and Jerry, and his brother-in-laws Dale Dittenber and Kevin Wilkins.
