TRAVERSE CITY – Josephine Bargiel, age 99, of Traverse City, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions in the loving care of her family.
Josephine was born in Detroit, MI on September 20, 1918 to Joseph and Michalina Mikulak. Josephine met her husband Joseph Bargiel in Detroit where the two were married. Josephine worked in the food industry until 1970, where soon thereafter Josephine and Joseph moved to Mesick, MI where she and Joe owned and operated a convenience store until 1980. Together, Josephine and Joseph also ran J&B, a coffee service that served the surrounding Traverse City area for 5 years.
Josephine was a busy lady always on the go, and with her polish background she was known for her delicious home cooking. She loved to garden and especially liked growing tomatoes. She was member of the Eagles of Traverse City for over 20 years.
Josephine is survived by her sons; Michael (Debbie) Bargiel, Las Vegas, NV, and Bob Bargiel, Traverse City.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, and son, Adam Tomaszewski.
A visitation for Josephine will take place from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, October 23, 2017 at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with a rosary service at 7:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 25, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with a visitation one hour prior. Fr. Christopher Jarvis will officiate. A graveside service for Josephine will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens immediately following mass.
