Josephine G. North, 94, of Traverse City formerly of Adrian, Michigan passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Bay Ridge Assisted Living. She was born on March 15, 1922 in Hamtramck, Michigan to the late Joseph and Eleanor (Mandolsky) Majeski. In 1947 she married Harold North of Adrian, he preceded her in death. Josephine lived in Adrian for 40 years. She worked at J.C. Penny Co. for 35 years, where she made many friends. Josephine was a former member of the Business and Professional Women's Club also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Adrian, the church Alter Society and the V.F.W.

Since moving to Traverse City Josephine worked at the Father Fred Foundation for six years, Kilwins for 3 years also part time at the Carpet Galleria and the Park Place gift shop. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

Josephine is survived by her son; Dr. Gregory (Deanna) North, grandchildren; Jason Massaroni and Katelyn Massaroni, a brother-in-law, George North as well as nieces, nephews and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a sister; Cecelia Knauss.

A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Josephine will take place at 12:30 p.m., with a visiting hour starting at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1025 S. Union St., Traverse City, Michigan, 49684. Rev. Fr. Kenneth R. Stachnik will officiate.

In accordance with Josephine's wishes cremation has taken place. Burial of her cremated remains will be next to her husband in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Adrian.
