Obituary

CEDAR — Our most precious Joshua James Balesh, 18, was born on March 17, 1993, to James Jr. and Robin (Tyler) Balesh, and was unfortunately taken from his family and friends on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012. Josh left us here on earth and is now at eternal rest with God in Heaven. Josh was a 2011 graduate from Traverse City West Senior High School. He loved to dirt bike, snowmobile, fish and hunt. One of his favorite things to do was go on fishing trips to Canada with his grandpa, Jim Balesh. Josh was enlisted with the United States Army and was set to begin his service on May 15, 2012. He is survived by his parents, James Jr. and Robin (Tyler) Balesh; sisters, Samantha Utter and Elizabeth Balesh; nephew, Robby Conner; mother of his son, Brooke Shank; two-and-one-half-month-old son, Colten Shank-Balesh; paternal grandparents, Jim and Arlene Balesh; Uncle Doug and Aunt Brenda Balesh-Schaub; Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Tammy Balesh-Murchland; cousin, Abby Murchland; Aunt Ellen and Uncle Larry McKay; Uncle Dennis and Aunt Masa Tyler; Aunt Marsha Tyler; Aunt Sandra and Uncle Jay Greenman; Aunt Melanie and Uncle Tom Keckler; Aunt Jane and Uncle Chuck Loubben; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. Josh was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Roy and Patricia Tyler; both sets of great-grandparents; and cousin, Gideon Tyler. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at 11 a.m., at West Side Community Church. Pastor John Clark will lead the service. Memorial contributions in memory of Josh may be directed to Joshual Balesh Memorial Fund at any Huntington Bank, for his son, Colten; or to Students Against Drunk Driving.
