Traverse City - Joyce Noel DeNoyer-Fitch, 77, lifelong resident of Traverse City passed away December 2, 2015 at French Manor with her family at her side.

Joyce was the daughter of Louis and Barbara (Miller) DeNoyer. She was a graduate from St. Francis High School and a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

Joyce attended Aquinas College in Grand Rapids and attained a degree and her teaching certificate. She taught school in the Grand Rapids area for five years and then in the Traverse City area for 29 years. She taught at Immaculate Conception, Central Elementary, Eastern Elementary, and most of her years at Glen Loomis Elementary. She also taught in the Philippines in the Navy Military Schools while there with her first husband Tom Fitch.

In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, sewing and volunteering.

Joyce is survived by her daughter Dawn (Mike) Fitch-Newman of Maple City, her grandson Brandon Newman, sisters, JoAnn (Norm) Lehr, Jeanette Swaney and many other loving family members and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Louis and Ray, sisters Eileen Kalchik, Alice Ullery and Maxine Norton.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Catholic Church on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 11:00 am with viewing and visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Graveside services will follow at Oakwood Catholic Diocesan Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Father Fred Foundation or to St. Francis Catholic Church Food Pantry.
