It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce P. Manley-Kuras, AKA "Grandma Honey," who peacefully left us on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at the age of 96.
Joyce was born in Mt. Clemens, Michigan on December 12, 1926 to the late Glen and Bessie (Lucas) Robling. She grew up in the suburbs of Detroit before marrying her beloved husband, James Manley. They moved to Leelanau County, Michigan thereafter where she established a farm and, started Traverse City's first in-home adult foster care home facility.
Throughout her life, Joyce was known for her warmth, kindness, and selflessness. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who always put the needs of others before her own.
Joyce was an accomplished woman in many facets, she enjoyed singing, cooking and playing Piano to name a few. She was passionate about her faith and her love for it inspired those around her.
In her later years, Joyce faced health challenges with incredible courage and grace. Despite the difficulties, she remained positive and determined to enjoy life to the fullest within her abilities.
Joyce (Grandma Honey) will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will live on through her children; Lois (Randy) LaRosa, Mike (Debbie) Manley and Sharon (Dean) Veliquette, seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, including the many lives she touched.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the medical staff at Grand Traverse Pavillions who provided exceptional compassionate care for Joyce during her time.
A funeral service honoring Joyce will take place at 3:00 p.m., with visitation starting at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, April 3, 2023 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, Michigan 49684. Pastor Tim Manzer will officiate.
