EMPIRE —
Judith Marie Bagaloff, 64, of Empire, following a courageous battle with cancer, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010. She was an inspiration and one of God's gifts to all whose lives she touched.
Judi was preceded in death by her father, George Janjecic; mother, Agnes (Fujko) Janjecic; and sister, Ann Carol Moberg. She is survived by her husband, James Bagaloff; sister, Patricia Janjecic; brother, George (Deane) Janjecic; son, Bradley (Stephanie) Bagaloff; daughters, Jana (Nat) Gray and Jaclynn (Matt) Martin; and seven grandchildren.
She was born in Gary, Ind., on June 10, 1946. She graduated with bachelor's and master's degrees from Indiana University and did postgraduate work at Oxford University, Christ Church College, Oxford, England. She found her calling as a special education teacher for the District School Board of Collier County, Fla., shaping the lives of children with autism and special needs. She was an English instructor at Northwestern Michigan College and Bay Mills Community College. For more than 10 years, Judi was an adjunct professor at Edison State College, Lely Campus in Naples, Fla., teaching English composition and literature.
A talented artist, painter and designer, Judi participated in art fairs and designed homes for the family building company. She enjoyed time spent in the sun and tending to her beautiful gardens. Her most cherished roles were as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and, most important of all, a child of God. She taught us all how to love and will be missed dearly.
Visitation for Judi will be held Friday, Dec. 10, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Empire, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with the vigil beginning at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, with a visitation held one hour prior.
