Obituary

Judi Jenkins of Traverse City, age 57, passed away on October 26, 2012. Beloved wife of Kris Kohyha; Loving sister to Sandra (Ashley) Boyd-Lee, Joan (Dr. Ralph) Kober, dear daughter of Dr. Ernest A. Jenkins and the late Katherine Jenkins, fond Aunt of Katherine, Sarah and Bethany Boyd-Lee. Cherished daughter-in-law of Vivian (Mudge) Konyha, and the late Donald "Doc" Konyha ,treasured sister-in-law of Donald A. Konyha, Dr. Ken (Elaine) Konyha, and Teri (Fred Campbell) Konyha. Loving Aunt of Max, A.J., and John (Tasha) Konyha, and Great Aunt of Oliver Konyha.

Judi was born on June 21, 1955 in Evergreen Park, Ill, to Dr. Ernest A. and Katherine Jenkins, the first of three daughters. She was an exceptional wife, sister, and friend to all who were blessed to have known her. Judi was devoted to helping others through a variety of church and civic organizations and was a source of comfort and guidance to her family. Judi is a graduate of Kalamazoo College, (1977), majoring in theater arts, which she used in a variety of capacities while living in New York City. Judi relocated to Traverse City when she married the love of her life, Kris Konyha, and there took up a variety of leadership and service orientated roles in both the corporate world and through her church focused activities.

Judi has been a "true north" compass of strength and guidance for her immediate and extended family. Always available to listen with a compassionate ear, offer insightful guidance, and a blend of humor with her well placed laughter. Judi held a special place in her heart for the needs of others and maintained a strong conviction to her faith throughout her life.

Visitation will take place at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 30 at First Congregational Church, 6105 Center Road, Traverse City, with the Memorial Service following at 12 noon, also at the church.
Interment will be a private service for immediate family in the Garden of Remembrance at a later time.
