Judith Ethel Knudsen

Judith Ethel Knudsen, 74, of Traverse City passed away July 1, 2016 at the Villas at Traverse Point with her husband of 55 years and children at her side.

Judith was born October 15, 1941 in Bridgeton Township, MI to Roy and Ethel (Hansen) Scott. She married James Knudsen on July 29, 1960 in a service in Leland, MI.

Judith was a tireless worker and instilled that same work ethic in her children. She was employed at the Early Bird restaurant as a cook for over 25 years and later as a sales associate at Walmart for 10 years. She and James also cared for many of the cottages along Lake Leelanau for several years. Judy was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Interlochen as was the leader of the East Leland 4-H group.

Judith will be remembered for her sweet and caring demeanor. She had an easy-going personality with an infectious smile. She enjoyed the holidays, especially Christmas because it brought together two of her favorite things; family and her angel collection. She loved to go sight-seeing through Leelanau County and enjoyed walking through the many shops in Glen Arbor and Northport. She did embroidery, was a talented baker, collected angels and loved her puppy 'Red'.

She is survived by her husband James of Traverse City; daughters Jo Ann (John) Hulett of Colorado Springs, CO, Jan (Kenneth) Sabins of Traverse City, Julie (James) Brantman of Holton, MI; son James (Jennifer) Knudsen of Traverse City; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Judith was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Harold Scott.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 8, 2016 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Interlochen at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor Mark Berlin will officiate the service.
