Julia Lyhn Slack was born to Ron and Jane Green on September 8, 1953. She graduated from Traverse City Senior High School in January, 1971 and married the late William "Jerry" Hanna on September 17, 1971. Together, they had three children: Ron (Ruthi) Hanna, Tracey (Jonathan) Dennis, and Mark (Kate) Hanna. On October 3, 1997, she married Douglas Slack. Surrounded by her family on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, she was healed from melanoma when she entered the presence of Jesus.

Julia was known by many people as "grandma" and "best friend". She was adventurous, tenacious, and self-giving. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren: Tarah, Tia, Heidi, Shawn, Summer, Chloe, Shepard, Madelynn, Abbey, Isaiah, Jake, Steven, Lydia, Lucas, Dyllan, Quinn, Cooper, Ellery, Mason, Kennedy, Emma, and Kate.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ron Green, and her late husband, Jerry Hanna. She is survived by her mother, Jane Green; her husband, Doug Slack; her siblings, Rhonda (Marc) Carroll, Bill Green, Kelly (Mike) Shrift; her children, Sherri (Brad) Cramer, Tim (Tonya) Slack, Rick (Amy) Slack, Ron (Ruthi) Hanna, Tracey (Jonathan) Dennis, and Mark (Kate) Hanna; her nieces, Ashley Carroll and Alison Shrift; and her eighteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Friday, December 16. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 17. A reception will follow the funeral service. Visitation and services will be held at New Hope Community Church at 5169 Bethesda Court, Williamsburg, MI, 49690.
