TRAVERSE CITY - June Charlene Murray of Interlochen passed away Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at Munson Medical Center in the loving care of her family. She was 65.
June was born March 5, 1951, in Dearborn, Mich., to the late William and Ruby (Julin) Kozak. She is a graduate of Edsel Ford High School.
June's passion was her family; nothing made her happier than a day with her husband, her daughters, her sisters, her beloved late mother or her new grandbaby, Lucy. She loved animals, especially the family's late dogs Jake and Bella. She and her husband, Bill, enjoyed tending to flowers and plants in their yard, feeding birds, visiting their daughters, trips to the bookstore and watching television together late into the night.
June spent most of her career working in the auto insurance industry, first for AAA Michigan and later for Auto Owners Insurance, the latter where she worked for 24 years until her retirement in 2014. Co-workers knew her as "Mama June" and "Junebug" over the years.
June is survived by her husband, William; daughters Stefanie (David), Lindsey and Katie; granddaughter Lucy; sisters Audrey (the late Jerry) Bergman and Evelyn (Ron) Bergman; brother William Kozak; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on October 24, 2016 at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home with a a visiting time one hour prior.
