June Conant Rusch, 94, of Traverse City passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 24, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

June was born on June 6, 1923 in Traverse City to the late John and Esther (Husby) Kesner. She married Marvin C. Conant on April 9, 1943. Following his death she later married Kenneth Rusch on January 9, 1993.

June graduated from Traverse City Central in the Class of 1941. She enjoyed staying home and raising her children as well as many other children. June was a dedicated licensed foster parent that took in many babies and children throughout the years. Many of them would stay with her until it was their time to be adopted. After each child left she always had tears and missed them deeply.

Cooking, tending to her flower garden and dancing were activities that June enjoyed. Her deep faith and church family were also exceedingly important to June. She was a devoted member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church.

June will be remembered fondly for her faith, love for animals and children, her ability to always want to look out for people in her community and her tremendous mentor and role model mentality.

Surviving June are her children, Dennis (Judy) Conant, Christi Throop, Laurie (Thomas) Wagner, Rose Kuchmuk, Nicole (John) Gardner, stepdaughter Pennie Lambert; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister-in-laws Naida Kesner and Marian (Conant) Larson and beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

June is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Marvin and Kenneth and brother Dr. Charles Kesner.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 27, at the Redeemer Presbyterian Church at 11am with a visitation held one hour prior. Pastor Scott Korljan will officiate. Interment will take place at the Acme Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the church or to the Salvation Army.
