Kalvin K. Kohn
TRAVERSE CITY – Kalvin K. Kohn, age 94, of Traverse City, passed away, Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Traverse Manor Assisted Living Facility in the loving care of his family.
Kalvin was born to Henry and Ethel (Moon) Kohn on April 9, 1924 in Bay City, MI.
Kalvin honorably served his country in the United States Navy aboard U.S.S. W.A.S.P, an aircraft carrier in WWII. He was employed as a supervisor at Michigan Bell for 41 years. Kalvin was a member of Traverse Bay (Asbury) United Methodist Church, Telephone Pioneers of America, Wenona Lodge #245, Free & Accepted Masons, Bay City, MI, B.P.O.E. Elks, Traverse City Lodge #323, and may area clubs.
Kalvin enjoyed square dancing and was an avid golfer. For many years Kalvin was a co-chairperson in charge of Marshals for Michigan Open Golf Tournaments, Michigan Bell Showdown, and various other Golf Tournaments held at the Grand Traverse Resort Golf Course.
Kalvin is survived by his wife, Anna Kohn, daughter, Cheryl (Larry) Szynkowski, Sarasota, FL, grandchildren; Jon (Michelle) Kraut, Brandon (Kristen) Kohn, great-grandchildren; Mya and Kathlyn Kraut, Korben Kohn, and Kallum Kohn, brother; Leslie (Loretta) Kohn, Bay City, and sister-in-law, Lorraine Kohn, Frankenmuth. Kalvin is also survived by his special relative, Vivian Glass.
Kalvin was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ethel, son, David Kohn, brothers; Lewis Kohn, and Eldon Kohn, and special military family member, Paul Glass.
A memorial service for Kalvin will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Traverse Bay United Methodist Church with a visitation one hour prior. Rev. Kathy Snedeker will officiate. A luncheon will immediately follow the service. Graveside services will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens following the luncheon at the church.
