Karen Lynn Fink's Obituary
Karen Lynn Fink, 55, of Traverse City, Michigan passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. Karen was born on November 22, 1967 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to John and Sue (Vander Weg) Fink. She was preceded in death by her brother, Peter; and by grandparents Charles and Lenore Fink and Sam and Trena Vander Weg. She is survived by her parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Karen graduated from Huron High School in Ann Arbor. She later, attended Eastern Michigan University graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Karen was a longtime employee of Flagstar Bank, working for many years at the headquarters in Troy, Michigan.
Our memories are filled with images of an energetic Karen, growing up being in or on the water in the summertime at the lake. Her smiling face, cheerful outlook and giggles never left her as she grew into adulthood. They became infectious. She loved the outdoors, nature, animals of all kinds and frequently photographed them. She enjoyed gardening and maintained large flower beds at her home in Livonia before joining her parents in Traverse City.
Karen had an ability to define a personal goal, set her mind to it, and then achieve that goal like few others. She was generous in spirit, a bright light filled with kindness to others. Once you were a friend of Karen's you were a friend forever.
She enjoyed her life, her work, her friends and her family right up to her final days. She will be greatly missed by us all.
A Memorial Service honoring Karen will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Northern Lakes Community Church, 5444 Herkner Rd., Traverse City, Michigan 49685. A gathering and time of fellowship will follow the services.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society, 2000 Town Center, Southfield, Michigan 48076 or the Cowell Family Cancer Center, 217 S. Madison St, Traverse City, Michigan 49684.
