Karen Elizabeth Krawczyk, 36, of Traverse City, passed away on April 17, 2026, in Fort Collins, Colorado, while attending a healing and meditation convention that was deeply meaningful to her, alongside her husband, brother and father.
Karen was born on April 2, 1990, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Robert “Bob” and Gina (Tobin) Bowersox. She graduated from Kalkaska High School in 2008 and went on to attend Northwestern Michigan College, where she met and fell in love with the love of her life, Josh. The two were united in marriage on September 17, 2011, at St. Francis Catholic Church.
Karen devoted much of her life to caring for and educating children. She was certified by the State of Michigan in childhood development and found great fulfillment working with Montessori at The Children’s House, as well as homeschooling her own children. Something that meant a great deal to her. She embraced the challenge of building curriculum and nurturing a love of learning in young minds.
Karen had a deep love for animals and a compassionate spirit. She enjoyed rehabilitating a squirrel, a crow, and even rescuing a dog from Korea.
She found joy in gardening, the outdoors, and hiking. She also loved pottery, painting with her children, and the ukelele.
Karen was a remarkable woman who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. When you see a cardinal, know it’s Karen stopping by to say hello.
She is lovingly survived by her husband, Josh; her two beautiful daughters, Natalie and Madelyn; her parents, Bob and Gina Bowersox; her brother, Nate (Lindsey) Bowersox; her grandparents, Susan and Frank Tobin and Bill Bowersox; her mother- and father-in-law, Jodi (Roger) George and John (Lori) Krawczyk; her siblings-in-law, Jordan Krawczyk and Joselyn Krawczyk, her grandparents Liz and Dale Dreffs; her beloved pets, three cats and a dog; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Marcia Bowersox, step-grandmother Joan Bowersox and step-grandfather Rick Dunham.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with a Rosary and time of sharing beginning at 6:30 PM.
