In Loving Memory of Katherine Virginia Jurica

Katherine Virginia Jurica, 94, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Medilodge of Traverse City. Virginia was born on July 30, 1924 in Owosso, Michigan to the late Floyd and Agnes (Morton) Erb.

Virginia graduated from Owosso High School in 1942 and went on to study nursing. In 1945, Virginia married her high school sweetheart Peter D. Jurica and shared 68 years of marriage. Virginia was an only child but dreamed of having a large family of her own. She took great pride in her family and her home which was evident to all. She unselfishly opened her heart and home to her family, friends and anyone who needed a place to rest. Everyone knew that there would be coffee, conversation, and comfort when they walked through the door. After losing her son in 1978, Virginia poured her love into healing and nurturing her family and she continued that mission until the end. Virginia was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church

Virginia is survived by her children Jane Chmielewski, Martha (William) Paulson, Ronald (Maria) Jurica, Mark Jurica and Thomas (Dianne) Jurica. Grandchildren Katherine Woodward, Ellen Bowmann, William III, Adam and Alexander Paulson, and Courtney and Peter Jurica. Great grandchildren William IV and Layla Paulson and Andrew, Nathan, and Zachary Paulson and Alyssa Weisman. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Peter and her son, James Peter Jurica.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019 from 6 to 7 pm with the Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 pm at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with a luncheon served in Centennial Hall immediately after the service. Graveside services will follow the luncheon at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Medilodge of Traverse City and Heartland Hospice for their loving care and attention bestowed upon Katherine in her final months.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Virginia may be directed to Safe Harbor which Peter and Virginia supported. Contributions for masses offered at Carmelite Monestery in Virginia's name would also be welcomed.
