Katherine Claire Manville, 74, of Traverse City passed away April 24, 2021 at her home with her family by her side under the care of Hospice.
Katherine was born on May 1, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Edward James and Mary (Jedie) Hoffnagle.
On July 18, 1964 Katherine married the love of her life, Elmer James Manville Jr. in Philadelphia.
Katherine was an amazing mother and grandma. She and Elmer lived all over as he was stationed at different bases with the Army. While in Germany she worked for the schools. Back in the states, she worked for a short time as a housekeeper in the hotel industry, but being a mom was without question her greatest passion. In her free time she enjoyed travelling to lighthouses all around the state and going on trips with her family. They travelled from coast to coast, north, south east and west. Katherine was also proud to be from Philly and spoke fondly of tasty cakes, scrapple and Philly cheesesteaks. She also loved her Beagles. In later years she also enjoyed bird watching, especially cardinals.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, siblings David, Donald, Joseph, Frank, Eddie, Pat, Mary and Eileen and granddaughter Karlie Manville.
Katherine is survived by her husband of nearly 57 years Elmer Jr., daughter Katherine; son Richard (Brandi) Manville; son Eric (Heather) Manville; grandchildren Kristopher, Jesse, Darren and Madison; great grandchildren Ivory, Joshua, Jason, Jace and Payton; and siblings James (Maryann) Hoffnagle, Helen (Phil) McCormick and Dorothy (Roger) Sealander.
The graveside service will take place on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at noon at Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in her honor may be directed to St. Jude's.
