On July 16, 2022, our mom, Kathleen Janssens Dougherty, passed away surrounded by family at her favorite place in Old Mission, Michigan. Kathy was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, went to school and met her husband, David, at Michigan State University.

She was most proud of being a mom and raising her three children in Lexington Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years David Dougherty; her father Edmund Janssens and mother Emma Janssens Gilbert; step-father James Gilbert and brother-in-law John Dougherty.

She is survived by her children, Kristin Dougherty, Jennifer Hirsh (Patrick) and Patrick Dougherty (Julie); four grandchildren, Connor and Jacob Dougherty and Jackson and Samantha Hirsh; sister Eileen (Bill) Nasif and brother John (Meg) Janssens; step-sister Barbara Horner; sister in love Rose Ann (John) Dougherty, along with many loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Kathy and Dave ran businesses together for decades in downtown Lexington and loved their clientele and community. In the last few years she enjoyed her time at Atria in Ft. Wright, Kentucky.

Donations may be made to two of her cherished churches, St. Hubert's Episcopal Church, PO Box 21987, Lexington, KY 40522 and Old Mission Congregational Church, PO Box 91, Old Mission, MI 49673.

There will be a small family service at Old Mission Congregational Church and per Mom's request a party for family and friends in the fall closer to home (details unknown at this time).
