B. Kathleen Green of Traverse City, Michigan, died suddenly on Friday, May 21, 2026, at age 90, at MediLodge of Traverse City, where she was receiving therapy.
Kathleen was born on January 13, 1936, in Ellsworth, Michigan, during a blizzard. She was the third of seven children of the late Kenneth and Betha Greenman. She graduated from Traverse City Senior High School.
Kathleen was first married to Bill Borden, with whom she had two children, Maurice “Mike” Borden and Ruth Ann Borden. She later married William Green, and together they had two children, Kenneth Green and Robert “Bob” Green. They raised six children, including two of William’s children from a prior marriage, Billy Green and Dan Green.
Kathleen worked hard throughout her life. She was employed by Munson Medical Center for more than 40 years. During that time, she held several positions, including medical technician. In her final role, she worked in the Central Processing Department, overseeing the cleaning, sterilization, and distribution of medical instruments and supplies used in surgical procedures. After retiring, she returned to work part-time at the hospital’s request. She thoroughly enjoyed her job and formed lifelong friendships with some of her co-workers.
Kathleen was adventurous and loved to travel. She and William traveled across Michigan, Ontario, and the western states by motorcycle, train, and car. After William’s death, Kathleen traveled with her mother and sisters, joined tour groups, and took cruises. She became close friends with David Spinner, and together they traveled to Florida, New Orleans, and western states.
Kathleen served as an ambassador for the National Cherry Festival for more than 20 years. She encouraged others, including friends and family, to volunteer.
Surviving Kathleen are her children, Maurice (Linda) Borden, Ruth Ann (Jose) Segovia, and Robert Green; her stepson, Dan (Jean) Green; her brother, Kenneth (Bonnie) Greenman; fifteen grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and three brothers.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at Munson Medical Center and MediLodge of Traverse City for their care and compassion for Kathleen.
Friends are welcome to visit with Kathleen’s family from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, MI 49684.
