Kathleen ("Kathy") Ann Kostrzewa passed peacefully surrounded by family on March 30, 2018. She was born June 22, 1942 in Saginaw, Michigan to Donald and Kathleen (Leidlein) Perry.
Kathy was married on June 2, 1961 to former husband Joseph Kostrzewa and moved to Traverse City in 1970, where she was an active and dedicated volunteer for numerous area charities, including Child & Family Services—for which she was a board member and also won the Volunteer of the Year award— and the Father Fred Foundation. Kathy was also a founding member of the Thistle and Thread artisan group.
She enjoyed cooking, entertaining and world travel, touring locales like South Africa, Morocco, Mexico, Britain and Spain with her children. She was also a passionate gardener, creating beautiful landscapes wherever she lived.
Kathy always put family first and was known for her empathy, giving nature and humility, as well as her lively sense of humor. Youthful and energetic, she made friends easily and her loyalty to those she loved was boundless.
She has joined her parents, infant son Joseph and her beloved grandson, Logan Patrick Shea.
Kathy lives on through everyone she loved, starting with her children, Ann (Brent) Kelly, Mary Kay (Bill) Petrosky, David Kostrzewa and Susan Kostrzewa (Cris Crisp); grandchildren Jansen Shea, Brittney Akers, Keith Petrosky and Brent Petrosky; sister Jan (Tom) Conley; brothers Tim (Anne) Perry; Steve Perry and Mike Perry, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
