Kathleen Marie Wiesen left us on October 18, 2017 at the age of 87. It should surprise no one who knew her that she died on her own terms, in her own home, surrounded by loved ones. Kathleen presided over her passing with candor, grace and good humor, sharing memories and participating in lively family discussions.
She was the sister to two brothers, mother of eight, mother-in law to seven, grandmother of twenty one, and great grandmother of five. Kathleen was also a successful realtor and business owner. She loved her home on Glen Lake, challenging building projects, tennis, gardening, singing, bargain hunting and red boots. She was a resourceful, practical and brilliant matriarch, the feisty, reigning queen, with a backbone of steel. So strong are the bonds she created, that her children, and their children, continue to gather at her home on Little Glen Lake every summer for more than 40 years now.
She is survived by her brother David Proost, her children Ruth, Daniel, Michael, Patricia, James, Jane, Laura and Tom Wiesen, their loving spouses, grandchildren, great grandchildren and one adoring cat.
She will always be the heartbeat of her family, out of sight now, but never far away. Per Kathleen's directions, her body was gifted to the University of Michigan Medical school out of her desire to continue helping others.
