Kathryn Barbara "Katy" Ramsdell, 80, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully at Munson Hospital with her loving family at her side.

Katy was born on January 26, 1945, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. On July 8, 1967, she married her high school sweetheart, William "Bill" Richard Ramsdell, in Northeast, Pennsylvania. Together they lovingly raised two sons, Steven and Mark.

Katy earned her bachelor's degree in education from Edinboro State College of Pennsylvania, along with her master's degree in education from Lewis University in Illinois, and went on to teach kindergarten for more than 30 devoted years, finishing her career in the Grayslake, Illinois School District. She loved her time with the children, guiding their early learning with patience and joy.

Beyond the classroom, Katy cherished her friendships and her church community at Central United Methodist Church. She also found great happiness in simple pleasures—especially walking her beloved dog, Lily, and visiting with her neighbors.

Katy will be deeply missed by her sons, Steven Ramsdell, and Mark (Lisha) Ramsdell; her brothers Rick (Marianne) Snyder, George Snyder, Barbara Snyder; many extended family and her faithful dog, Lily.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Barbara Snyder; her husband Bill, her brother, Don Snyder; her sister, Marty Snyder; and her sister-in-law, Marge Ramsdell.
