TRAVERSE CITY — Kathryn Marie Barr, 80, of Traverse City, passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at Bortz Health Care in Traverse City.Kathryn was born on Feb. 25, 1930, to the late Leslie and Hazel (Coan) Michler in Marlette. Kathryn was a graduate of Kingston High School in 1948 and went on to nursing school in Detroit at Grace Hospital.Kathryn entered into marriage with William Duane Barr on June 13, 1953, at the Methodist Church in Farmington. Kathryn lived half of her life in an Airstream trailer traveling all over the southern and western United States with her husband, stopping at their home in Traverse City for the summers. While in Florida, Kathryn belonged to the square dance club of Outdoors Resorts in Long Key, Fla. She enjoyed the time spent at all the Ramsey and Barr/Mckinley family reunions. Kathryn loved children and was a member of the Methodist faith for many years. Kathryn is survived by her husband of over 57 years, William "Bill" Barr, of Traverse City; her sister, Dorthea (Stan) Latesky, of Birch Run; sister-in-law, Jean Weatherholt; nieces and nephews, Stanley Latesky, Hazel (Dale) Wagner, Michael (Carrie) Latesky, William (Michelle) Latesky, Sherry Lark, Julie (David) Misico, Jill (David) Kipley, Janine (Paul Nimmer) Weatherholt, Jon Weatherholt, Camille (Jeff Leonhardt) Weatherholt and Michelle Weatherholt, many great-nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members and friends.Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation for friends and family will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dale Ostema officiating. Graveside committal services will be held in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens in the spring. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 to aid children in their fight against cancer.Please share thoughts with the family at www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com .
