Kathryn Mary Blakemore

TRAVERSE CITY – Kathryn Mary Blakemore, age 68, of Traverse City passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the Munson Medical Center in the loving care of her husband.

Kathryn was born on May 16, 1950 in Ypsilanti, MI to Don and Mary (Desiatto) Conley. It was Ypsilanti where Kathryn was born and raised. She attended St. John's Catholic High School where she graduated in 1968. Upon her graduation from high school, Kathryn attended Eastern Michigan University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and became a Registered Nurse. Shortly thereafter, Kathryn went on to work for Washtenaw County Mental Health Services where she worked for over 28 years, retiring as a lead administrator. Kathryn was also a part time instructor at Washtenaw Community College, teaching courses in crisis intervention.

Kathryn met her husband Gary of 46 years in 1972, instantly fell in love and were married in 1973. Together Kathryn and Gary loved to play golf, as well as taking family trips where they enjoyed camping and canoeing. Kathryn and Gary loved spending time together in the great up North and started visiting the Traverse City area regularly in 2010. In August of 2017 they finally decided to call Traverse City their home.

Kathryn is survived by her husband, Gary, their children; Erika Blakemore, Ryan Blakemore, and Laura Blakemore, grandchildren; James Johnson IV, and Gibson Blakemore, and her brother, Gary Conley. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents.

A Memorial Service for Kathryn Blakemore will be held in Acme, MI. The Catholic Mass will take place at the Christ the King Church at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the Service at 10:00 AM. The Service will be officiated by Rev. Raymond C. Cotter.
