Traverse City - Kathryn E. Walter, 87, of Traverse City passed away October 18, 2013 at her home.
Kathryn was born on September 9, 1926 to the late Henry and Emma Kuemin.
Kathryn was a devout member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She volunteered countless hours with the food pantry, blood drive, and crocheting and knitting beautiful prayer shawls for shut-ins. Kathryn was also a lifetime member of the VFW Women's Auxillary.
After raising her family of seven children, Kathryn worked for the Osteopathic Hospital as a registered nurse and served as the night supervisor for several years until she retired.
In her spare time she enjoyed bowling, golfing and making ceramics.
Kathryn is survived by her daughters Nadine (Kenny) Pheasant of Traverse City, Marilyn Spoering (Jim Purtill) of Indian River, Bonita (Ray) Seaberg of Texas, son Duane (Debbie) Walter of Lake Ann, 26 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and several other loving family members and friends.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her sons Ronald and Mark, daughter Jacqueline, sisters, Wanetta and Galita and brothers Raymond, Dennis and Henry.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Father James Hayden will lead the service of remembrance. Graveside services will follow.
Memorial contributions in memory of Kathryn may be directed to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or to Munson Hospice.
