Kathy Marie Crockett, 61, of Traverse City, passed away Monday, October 17, 2016 at Munson Medical Center surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle against melanoma.
Kathy was born on Saturday, October 15, 1955 in Royal Oak, MI to Peter and Betty (Hale) Antonich.
Kathy touched so many lives through her tireless work with Safe Harbor of Traverse City; Bright Hope International, which drilled water wells in Haiti; Single Moms of Traverse City; various 4-H groups; and she made dresses and handbags for the people of Haiti and Africa. She was always there for others, giving of her time and talents. She was employed as a manager at Stein Motors for 34 years.
Her friends and family will remember Kathy for her feisty spirit. You always knew what she was thinking and clearly knew where you stood with her, but above all she loved her grand kids and they were endeared to her through their special names; Angel Girl, Baby Girl and Mr. Moo. She was always there for her family whether it be through making gloves and mittens, sewing dresses for school projects, like Allison's 1800's dress, or camouflage outfits for the kids. She also loved her cats, Sparkles and Boy-Kitty.
Kathy is survived by her mother Betty Nielson; daughters Kelly (Ash) James, Carrie (Kevin) Kobylski; grandchildren Allison James and Faith James, and Isaac Kobylski; brother Michael Antonich; and adopted daughter Lori Gary.
She was preceded in death by her father Peter Antonich; and brother Kenneth Antonich.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Kensington Church, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m.
