Kay M. Knowles

Kay M. Knowles, 76, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Munson Hospice House. Kay was born on January 5, 1938 in Traverse City to the late Vincent "Burley" and Grace (Hockett) Rice. She was married to LaVern "Vernie" Knowles on November 8, 1958 in Traverse City. He preceded her in death on January 22, 1998. Kay had been employed as a deli clerk for Oleson's retiring after 19 years of service. She was a member of the Sleder's lunch bunch. Kay enjoyed needle point, knitting and crocheting. She will be remembered as "a mom to everyone."

Kay is survived by her two sons; Scott R. (Judy) Knowles and Jarrett Knowles. Also surviving are three grandsons; Christopher Schaub, Scott M. (Shanda) Knowles and Cody Knowles; four great-grandchildren; Scott D., Sebastian, Mackenzie and Christian. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and dear friend, Donna (Don) Howland and long time friends; Mare McKowski and Adrienne Rossi.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine Knowles, two great-grand children, Treyten and Nevaeh Knowles and a brother, Larry (Doris) Rice.

Private family services have taken place.
